Sun Exposure

If you are enjoying hot summer days filled with sunshine, then you need to mind your skin and be aware that too much exposure to bright sun can effect an unhealthy stimulus to your body temperature and cause several physical and emotional ailments as a result. Here are some tips:

  • Use Belladonna 30c if you have been in the hot sun all day and start to develop signs and symptoms of sunstroke. Pounding headache, exhaustion, feeling disorientated, slightly sick and nauseous .and looking flushed.
  • Nat-mur 6c is for when you have dehydration and is also for those of you who hug the shade. People who need Nat-mur tend to have a fairly high body temperature anyway and can't cope very well with it rising further.   They dislike sunning themselves or over heating in any way. They easily develop headaches as they tend to sweat and are usually thirstless, so dehydration creeps up on them unnoticed.  They  feel very uncomfortable in hot weather and dislike uncovering and wearing less clothing. They can break out easily in prickly heat rashes. Use this remedy for sore eyes from extra sensitivity to light in astigmatism.
  • For prickly heat rash, with itching and small raised red spots use Apis 6c. Use also for swollen ankles.
  • For preventing adverse reactions to bright sunshine, (excluding skin burn which needs all the usual measures of high factor sun cream)  use Sol 30c. Take one the day before exposure and one daily during your holiday or in general if spending alot of time in summer sunshine.
  • Try the Bush Flower Essence Spray: Solaris. Reduces adverse effects from sunshine. This Spray is a beautiful thing to have if you have toddlers and small children out enjoying long summer days but collapsing in a heap of overwrought irritability in the evenings afterward!

Remember to always drink water, and eat plenty of fruit. Fruit has a high water content , is nutritious and also pulls toxins out of the body and so is a must for summer. Try to eat most of your daily fruit in the mornings as that is its best time for assimilation and absorption.

Lost everything , no way out of debt, work gone - has despair got you in its grip?

Homeopathy can help. The homeopathy remedy made from Gold - Aurum Metallicum is a remedy for those people who have been workaholics and high achievers all their lives. They are used to taking a large amount of responsibility for others and are loyal and conscientious employers who worry about the income and livelihoods of the people who depend upon their business to provide for their own families. First and/or only children of their parents, caring yet serious and driven to succeed ....they rarely fail but when they feel they have failed, they are vulnerable to plunging into despair, aloneness and utter weariness of life. All their life-long overwork catches up with them. They have learned to strongly base their whole identity and reason for existence on their achievements, if these be all at once taken away..they feel worthless. They think they have no reason to exist any more and become convinced they should end it all - there is no way out, all seems black and hopeless.

What Gandhi had to say about Homeopathy

"Homeopathy is the latest and refine method of treating patients economically and non- violently. Government must encourage an patronise it in our country.

Late Dr. Hahnemann was a man of superior intellectual power and means of saving human life, having a unique medical nerve. I bow before his skill and the Herculean and Humanitarian labour that he did.
His memory wakes us again and you are to follow him, but the opponents hate the existence of the principles and practice of homeopathy, which in reality cures a larger percentage of cases than any other method of treatment, and it is beyond all doubt safer and more economical an the most complete medical science."

Financial Worries, Survival Stress: Ars.Alb may help you

'Stress' affects us all in different ways according to our individual make-up. We each have a very different tendency to suffer particular ailments depending on our own bodies. Each person has a genetic make-up where different sets of illnesses run in their family history. Each person has had a different and unique upbringing with gifts bequeathed by their parents which  others did not receive at all . Or with troubles and psychological wounds which differ to others' experiences.
We are as individual in health as in illness.
Homeopathy recognises unique and singular ways of responding to stress and strives to match its solutions with the specific pattern of trouble. That is why when I describe a remedy it often sounds like the portrait of a person! The symptom patterns effect all levels of a human being: physical, emotional, mental and even deeper into a person's inner psychic life. The more pervasive symptoms and physical pathology is, usually the more guaranteed it is to have roots in mental and emotional spheres. Often one finds that mental and emotional troubles affect the body, as physical illnesses can also feed into and change the day-to-day personality of the sick person. Sometimes it is hard to discern which came first. Luckily it is not necessary!

So Arsenicum Album as a homeopathic remedy is a powerful help in many different situations. It has a huge sphere of action, but today I will just describe it in regards to : money stress. Yes, this remedy is made originally from taking the substance of Arsenic and putting it through the homeopathic preparation process of dilution+ succussion. Be reassured, as the sceptics and attackers of homeopathy do state, there is nothing left of the original substance once it is prepared as a homeopathic remedy!

People who need Arsenicum Album suffer severe anxiety. They look anxious too..they look pale, drawn, pinched and their eyes looks anxious. They are very fastidious and impeccably turned out people. They would hate to have a button missing, a hem hanging down, fluff or dog-hair on their coat or jacket, a sweat mark on the collar of their shirt etc. They are conscientious about details and notice every detail in themselves, their work and in others. They can be extremely critical. And have a tendency to reproach and admonish others openly.  If you invite a friend who is like this round to your house, they will straighten a crooked picture on your wall as they pass by, and leap up and try to do your dishes to make things cleaner as mess and dirt impinges on them and is intolerable to them. They need to be in control, and controlling their environment gives them emotional relief.
Their anxiety is very often about money. Will I have enough to pay the bills? How much does that cost? Can I buy this cheaper? Do I have to spend this much ? How much have I saved? How can I save more? Will I lose my job? Will I lose my house? Do they expect me to spend alot of money on a gift for their child? Do I have to attend this is ridiculous to have to travel and buy a new outfit, pay for a wedding gift ? really I'd rather not be expected to pay for them, they can pay for themselves.
To others, Arsenicum Album can sometimes appear mean and stingy, tight and ungenerous. They count everything and are very aware of money and the price of everything. They can tense when they are expected to give, and withhold spending if at all possible.
People who have been loved very conditionally are very vulnerable to developing this state. They can suffer depression as a result of prolonged anxiety about money. They develop mistrust of people and can suffer troubled relationships as their critical, admonishing and withholding nature can be difficult to be around. Their fixation on money does repel people. They can also be very greedy, avaricious and be very stimulated and excited by money when they acquire enough of it. Interestingly enough, they do not tend to feel much envy and covetousness of others who have money. Mostly because they have spent so much time thinking about it that they have acquired alot themselves.
Arsenicum states can be caused by poverty experienced in childhood, by growing up in a cold environments where things replaced love, where being the best and having the best seemed the only option to make one feel better about oneself. Arsenicum states can also be temporary and fleeting caused by the sudden loss of money or livelihood in one's life. An Arsenicum depression is an accumulation of continual free-floating anxiety about money.
Distrust erodes their confidence in other people and they can become paranoid. To lose money is to have lost everything as there is nothing else left. They lose everything because they never noticed money turning into a cold replacement for relationship. People who need Arsenicum really feel that kindness is motivated by a person's desire to take something from you or to use you. Men who feel that their wives only love them for their money, old people who have become isolated and have to penny-pinch in order to live from day to day, a rich person who has suddenly had his entire life -savings wiped out seeks into a deep depression raving about the bankers who did this to them, a woman who received no nurturing from her parents and is doing her utmost to be Miss Perfect and succeed in her work and never make a mistake for fear of losing her job....these are all examples of people who may at some point in their lives need Arsenicum.
Physically, people who may need a dose of Arsenicum have a tendency to suffer from bouts of food poisoning every now and then. They have sensitive stomachs and during phases of stress cannot eat much and lose weight rapidly. They can also suffer periodically with diarrhoea. They are very sensitive to cold  and always need to be wrapped up warmly though they hate stuffy atmospheres and despite wearing their woollies, will want the window open for a bit of fresh air. They have allergic rhinitis and can catch cold easily and get clear runny noses and periodic sneezing fits. They suffer migraines. Very frequently they are asthmatic and have difficulty breathing, they wheeze and struggle for breath and may wake up around 1.a.m. in the morning with both anxiety and wheezing. The anxiety triggers asthma and the asthma and restriction of air can trigger great anxiety. They like to have sips of cold water but never drink much at any one time. Asthmatic Arsenicum types' reaction to sickness is to drive themselves harder with little compassion and sympathy for themselves. They are frightened of how they will manage to live without money and do not trust that things will work out or that they will be provided for in any way. This is often due to past experience in life and the conclusions they have drawn about that. Arsenicum types are not lucky, fortunate types where good things happen to them. Arsenicum types are afraid of death and of dying from illness. Some Arsenicum types are very religious, partly as their way of addressing their deep fears. People who need this remedy are incredibly restless and rarely sit down or sit still. Sometimes their restlessness can rive them out of bed at night to the extent where they pace up and down the room. The restlessness is both physical and mental.

When I describe these symptoms, I describe without judgement. We all suffer in various ways and get stuck at different moments of our lives. It is easy to lose trust and develop great inner fear an restless anxiety. This inner fear takes over and eats away at our souls. A state of illness which needs a prescription of Arsenicum in its most extreme form can be described as one of torment. People suffering in this way at their worst moments can become suicidal and plunge into despair.

If any of you relate to this, doses of the homeopathic remedy will relieve anxiety, sooth away tension and stress in your body, help you to get back on your feet and see the world again through less distorted and contracted eyes. It will relax you and make you able to receive help, lessen your attempts to control everything that happens to you. It is equivalent to a loving touch from a friend with complete understanding, which breaks the spell of hardness and darkness and suddenly the tears flow with the recognition that everything may work out alright and that no problem is insurmountable.

If you suffer unbearable anxiety every day, and relate to any of the experiences described above, Why not reach out for help and realise that something which has become familiar to you and which you may feel is just the way life is for you, can actually be relieved and helped and healed. You can have a better experience of life with less struggle. If you need to talk to someone why not consider a homeopath in your area? Homeopathy can help

Financial Worries, Survival stress

Economic crisis is now global . It is also deeply personal. It is more than just a media article or report or statistic which governments rush to adjust or conceal or manipulate. This is to do with people's lives, their livelihood, their work, their health, their happiness and well-being. On a deeper level, it is a crisis of trust, faith, belief in the honourableness and fairness of exchange between fellow human beings wherever they may live on the planet. This involves issues which will develop and further us, and change the world, should we overcome them. When can we learn to manage and control the material facets of our lives while having our eyes fixed on higher goals? When do we overthrow concepts such as 'survival of the fittest' and replace them with more evolved and spiritually true realities of interdependence and relationship? When I have something or acquire something, it should not automatically proportionately signify a direct loss to another person. Ethical consumerism, honour in business, trust in the word of a person, fairness in wants and needs and the fulfilling those wants and needs, humanity in commercialism, the perception of the person behind a number....when, oh when will all these things come about en masse?

Economic crisis on a personal level is connected with changing times. The opportunity for revolutionising calculated intellectual approaches to survival has arrived. There are many seed-changes growing into global movements. I am not a political animal myself. For all you passionate advocates of ethical consumerism and ethical investment, you have my boundless respect and support of your work. My way of contributing is to work with the individual and try to build bridges to personal happiness, fulfilling life-changes and re-orientations. Health is a foundation on which a construct of personal triumph can be built. I do not mean mere physical health as a measurement of this triumph , but healthy thinking, healthy inner life, healthy love, healthy psychology, healthy attitude. Healthy living is constituted not merely through choosing organic food, eco-friendly products and chemical free environments though these things already can change and transform health. True health and inner vitality emerges from deeper factors too.

Worrying every day about money and having enough to provide for oneself and one's families corrodes and deteriorates health and happiness very quickly. It makes a person contract with tension. A feeling of being poor connects in with one's feeling of self-worth as many people never broke this link between possession of material goods and personal success and happiness. Identifying money , one's work and one's income with one's being is dangerous but very common.
Once money, work, and income are compromised, the person is also compromised. He or she does not know who they are. They lose their self-hood and can fall into existential despair and confusion. Deep feelings of poverty frequently bring about shame and discomfort in front of others. So a struggling person begins to withdraw from many relationships as they become more and more self-conscious.

People who have been caught up on a treadmill or in an unaware mode of living, feel that one needs money in order to 'relate'. The simple things in life have been forgotten. Meeting for lunch or coffee has replaced going for a walk. Entertaining and offering beautiful and often costly meals has replaced visiting, sitting in company and singing together and just talking. Working far from home requires money to drive and lack of rootedness in local community. Women have to have hair cuts, nice clothes, a good image to make the friends they want and because they fear judgement, ridicule and ostracising or class prejudice and a diminishing of opportunity in networks. People really do set store on impressions. A lovely smile or a light in the eyes does not always succeed in making an impression in a society where using others to get ahead is seen as normal. People who marry each other sometimes see the 'package' and not the person. Many individuals are in quite conditional relationships and friendships and have many superficial acquaintances. Personal dependency alarms friends and family for they already have 'enough on their plate'. Quickly friends disappear, family can let their own down and isolation ensues. It is hard to connect with others who are suffering in the same way as people like to hide poverty behind closed doors.
The State is supposed to be the one relationship which cannot fail. But how can that make sense when one's relationship with the State has nothing to do with love? It is only Love that keeps on giving. Even the concept of citizenship has been eroded: love of one's country has become a complicated system of taxes and payments leading to a field of entitlement and blame.

Losing money can destroy a person's life, It is a spiral that gets out of control.

This crisis has to wake us up to the fact that we are not our things, who we are is not always reflected clearly in the eyes of others. The house we live in and the work we do doesn't always say much about who we are. Trusting in something outside of oneself is natural to a human being who is in fact just a small creature in a beautiful and large universe. To place one's trust in what we can see and what we can touch, in what is makes sense. But it doesn't work. In the long-term it produces unhappiness and sickness and can be taken away.
What is intangible and invisible often has the most power to effect change: love, giving, peace, kindness, hope, courage, encouragement, faith. The intangibles are the most valuable and have the most worth. Maybe homeopathy, scorned for consisting of 'nothing' , for being 'nothing' and healing 'nothing' may finally have a part to play.

So to continue, this is all very easy to talk about, but what can someone who is assailed with a life-experience such as a plunge into poverty and penny-pinching, DO? How can you save yourself? Health is your wealth. Well, homeopathy can help.

What you need in order to get out of this is:

  1. Self-belief and the knowledge that this ongoing experience says nothing about your life, who you are and what you have is just an experience and like all times in life, this too will pass.
  2. The ability to continue to love another and be loved in turn, for oneself. Hang on to prized relationships. From our relationships springs more than we ever realised.
  3. Energy. Physical and mental and emotional.
  4. Physical ailments affecting daily functioning need to be healed.
  5. The ability to think straight, focus, be mentally alert and acquire enough healing sleep.
  6. Faith! We all need a belief system that is not hooked on economics. Money does not and never has equalled power. Let's be willing to drop this idea and live from a different inner base. Money does not make the world go round : Love does!

Sometimes in order to gain, one has to let go. Many times in life, we are forced into this letting go, by having something taken away from us. If we can participate and volunteer in letting go of ideas as well as things, we all may be utterly surprised by what begins to happen and what 'luck' comes our way. Inner change does provoke outer change. Change begins with changing how we feel. A difficult situation impedes less when we feel better. My next post will draw a portrait of individual responses to money-worry and the symptom patterns both in body and mind, which can be healed and helped by using remedies and I will let you know, of course, which remedies you can use!

In the meantime, when we think of losing the roof over our heads, let's think on this instead:

"The very most you can do in your life, is figure out what you hope for. And the most you can do is live inside that hope. Not admire it from a distance, but live inside it, right under its roof."
