Homeopathic Remedies for Foreign Travel

Did you know that homeopathic remedy kits are small, portable, light in weight , and powerful when it comes to medicine for travel and travel ailments? Homeopathic remedies can be a life-saver when it comes to exotic travel and preserving your physical health and comfort while away.

There are remedies which are effective in treating the following:

Diarrhoea, food poisoning, fevers, vomiting, dehydration, constipation, bloating/distension, indigestion, heartburn, headache, injuries and accident, strains and sprains, reactions to insect bites and stings, septic states, sunstroke and sunburn, jet-lag, exhaustion, and all manner of infectious illnesses.

You can purchase a Homeopathy Travel Kit easily in many different places. Inside the kit there is a leaflet which explains how to use homeopathy and gives you indications for choosing different medicines depending on the complaint. A person whose starting point is knowing nothing whatever about homeopathy, can prescribe safely, and with success and efficacy. Remedies work quickly. They are safe to take if one has a chronic disease or ongoing diagnosed illness as remedies do not interfere with medication. Nor do they interfere or counteract medication for malaria for example. They are easy to do not even need a glass of water to accompany a homeopathic pill or tablet. You take them by simply dissolving the pill or tablet in your mouth. Homeopathic remedies are not swallowed, they are absorbed over the mucous membranes of the mouth and throat.

I also recommend The World Travellers Guide to Homeopathy by Colin B. Lessell. If you are a journalist with postings world-wide, this is life-changing!

There are homeopathic 'alternatives' to virtually every immunisation which people receive prior to travel. Tetanus, Hep A and Hep B, Diptheria, Polio, Typhoid, Cholera, Malaria, Yellow fever, Typhus, Dengue Fever etc. The directions for how to use them are very simple. They are easy to transport and they cause no side-effects or adverse effects to your health. And yes, they are effective - they work. Nothing is 100% guaranteed but neither are the vaccines. I have advised people on their travel 'shots' for years ...not one person has come back to me reporting that they contracted one of these illnesses.

But if you decide that there is a risk in trusting 'homeoprophylaxis' which is what we call 'homeopathic vaccination/immunisation' and are getting shots and immunisations in preparation for your travel, then homeopathy can offer protection against side-effects from these immunisations. One of the first ports of call for protection against vaccine-damage is the remedy Thuja 30c. Take one dose immediately after your shot, and one about 12 hours later.

For all those using Malaria medication, which is known to be hard on the body , I advise that you take either a herbal tincture or a homeopathic remedy to support your liver. Your liver is responsible for detoxing harmful and unnecessary substances from the body. An efficient liver also happens to be excellent for preserving healthy immunity as well. Use Milk Thistle every day. Or try taking two of the Schuessler Cell Salts: Nat sulph and Nat-mur each day. Alternatively, you can try taking Sulphur 6x once in the morning and Nux-vomica 6x once in the evening for about 3 weeks.  Protecting your liver is one of the main steps to take against protecting yourself from symptoms and adverse side-effects from taking drugs or medication. Another simple protective step you can take is to drink plenty of clean, fresh water.

Prevention of illness is always better than cure. It is possible to discern who may be vulnerable to particular complaints through a thorough examination of the history of a person's health and the type of ailments they are prone to developing. People with a history of weak digestion, trouble with constipation and stomach distension, regular bouts of random food poisonings will most definitely not be free of trouble when they travel! People who have sensitive skin are in line for trouble too . People who have a diet which does not include plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables each day will tend to have more acidity of the blood and thus attract more mosquito bites. They will be unlikely to have an incident-free trip as well.

So, what else can you do if you are planning on an exciting trip to a place you have always wanted to visit and are nervous about the health implications?
Do go and see a homeopath in your local area. Your homeopath will record your health level and prescribe a constitutional remedy to boost your immunity and your vitality prior to travel. An individualised tailor-made personal prescription will address any weaknesses you have and any minor physical ailments you have prior to your trip. This is the best protection you could have.

Other tips:

For prevention of mosquito bites:

  • wear tightly woven clothing (linens though light and cool, are loosely woven and can be penetrated by mosquitoes)
  • bring Essential Oil of Citronella which is an effective insect repellent
  • consume Garlic for 3 weeks prior to departure. This must not be the non-odourless kind, as the smell is the whole point!
  • balance your diet and the pH of your body. Eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. Avoid coffee, alcohol, and too much wheaten carbohydrate for a while. Take one tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar in a little warm water 3xdaily.  Take the Cell Salt: Nat-phos 6x every day.
  • Take the supplement Vitamin B1 Thiamine once daily before travel.
To boost your immune system if you don't attend a homeopath:
  • Take 1000mg of Vitamin C once daily. (Do not do this, if you have any kidney trouble or suffer regular kidney infections)
  • Take the herbal tincture Echinacea  every day. (Do not do this if you have a chronic diagnosed Auto-immune disorder such as Rheumatoid Arthritis or if you have previously had cancer)
Additional helps for your journey apart from your homeopathy travel kit:
  • Take Grapefruit Seed Extract with you. A powerful natural anti-biotic which you can use should you acquire any infection. You can apply it externally on your skin and can even wash food in water with drops of the Extract added to it.
  • Essential Oil of Lavender: antiseptic, immune stimulant, soothing sedative for sleep, wonderful for skin burn etc ...a very versatile oil to have.

Enjoy your travel experiences! I wish you well and safe on your journey with the following Irish blessing:

"May the road rise up to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face
The rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His Hand"
